Clever Hobbitses

Within the stories of “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” lies one of the most complex and intriguing characters. As the story unfolds, it is revealed that Smeagol started out as a simple Hobbit, but after discovering the “One Ring”, it forever altered him. The unknown evil of the Ring consumed him, with the first change being Covetousness, which quickly manifested into Murder. He both loved and hated the ring. This struggle created a duality within Smeagol in which his other half became Gollum.

My contribution to this years Enchanted Brush is of Gollum dangling like a spider (one of many descriptions that Tolkien used) in pursuit of the Hobbit Frodo, who currently carries his beloved Ring.

Having appeared in numerous Fantasy Art Books, Galleries, Cons and wonderful assignments over the last 9 years, Eric is honored, and thankful to Dan, to once again be invited to exhibit at this years Enchanted Brush Show.
