“Winter Mouse” is inspired by the Haida People of British Columbia, and the legend of the Mouse Woman. She is a shape-shifter, teacher, and nurturer who guards especially young people and protects them from their folly. “Winter Mouse” is meant to refer to both the woman and/or the mouse in my image, since I’ve given her some physical characteristics of a mouse — the ears, tail, and fur — while trying to maintain the beauty and grace of an elegant human. The original is colored-pencil and acrylic.
